Stage 4 – Installing a frameless balustrade channel and glass

Installing a glass balustrade generally takes a day our two depending on the size of the project. The most important part of installing a frameless glass balustrade is using the appropriate tools and following the required safety procedures.

Drilling very hard stone is always a challenge (hard stone being, slate, Indian sand stone, granite, stone tiles etc) – we use special diamond drill bits to carefully drill through the stone. It is also important that the stone is good quality, flat and fully grouted. Any gaps or cavities under the stones can cause the stones to crack when drilling or when tightening the balustrade channel down. Extreme care need to be taken when fitting any frameless glass balustrade system. Always seek help from a professional during your installation. You also need to ensure that there is sufficient high quality concrete underneath the stones for your fixings.

Handling glass for a frameless balustrade will always be challenging. You need to think this through careful as access can be a major issue and also bear in mind that frameless balustrade glass is certainly not light!
